November 2 Homework: Advertisment
- Advertising is the way which leads to consumtion of people. Because it makes people want to buy things. Advertisers always try to make their products to be sold by creating all of the most attractive advertisment, and they always show the good side of it, they never show the bad side. People know the existing of the products by seeing the advertising. Therefore, they will buy things that they like and hardly ever think of the consequences of the products. In sum, advertising makes people want to buy more things. It makes the consumtion greater.
- Citizens are not sufficiently informed about the sustainability of our consumtion habits. People are continuing to buy more and consump more, because there are so much advertising, and advertisers only show the good side of the product. Some people know about the sustainability and the consequences that may occur during consuming the products, but they still buy it. I think the possible way to let people know more about the sustainablity is the Goverment should have some laws for the citizens about sustainability and try to persuade the citizens by making some advertising about it.
- I think the advertising techniques influence what i purchase. Because when i decide to buy things, i will look at the way how people advertise the products. Therefore, sometime my decision about buying things may change. It depends on how the advertising looks like and how they're presented.

Sustainable Development
What is Sustainable Development?
Sustainable Development means taking what we need to live without affecting the later generation
Real world examples:
- Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain has implemented a policy of mixed land use and high density development along its major transport routes. An upgraded public transport system allows more residents to live there, while remaining green belts still provide habitat for wildlife and recreational areas for people
- In America, Interface Inc., a major carpet tile producer has greatly improved its ecological footprint. By using recycled and more environmentally friendly products, and more efficient manufacturing processes, they have reduced their energy and water consumption. The levels of waste have been reduced.
- In Kalundborg, Denmark, Eco-industrial parks are placed together to co-operatively manage the use of resources and environmental impacts caused by their operations. By sharing resources they improve efficiency and create less waste. The waste created by a power station in the park is used to make cement by another firm. Other businesses use heat generated by the power plant and cement factory for some of their processes.
Other examples:
- Renew the waste from the factories
- Walk or ride a bike in short distance
- Recycle materials(plastic, paper...)
- Turn off the lights when not using
- Use solar power
- Plant more trees

Migration / Immigration Narrative
Sitting on the chair with hand holding the pen and eyes glued to the geography textbook. I tried to come up with something to write. But i didn't know when all of my thoughts were drifted back to the past. 30 years ago, when my aunt was only fifteen years old, she migrated to The United States with her relatives. My grandmother thought life would be easier for my aunt if she moved there. During that time, Vietnam was really poor, lives were very different from now. One of the push factors was environmental factor. She lacked many things, her family couldn't afford to feed her. Another reason was because The United States has a good economy. She might get a better job there. That was the pull factor which brought her to that large and rich country. Thereafter, she became an immigrant in The United States. She said that America was a crowded area. Many people from all over the world immigrated there as refugees. That was why it became a country with diversity, from humans, culture to religion.
Migration to America gave her a better life. She was given opportunities to become a citizen and got a nice job. But there was also a negative effect. Two years ago, she was working in a bank. Now, she lost her job, because America was in the economy crisis, and it was difficult to get a job again. Although she got used to the environment, the people and the climate in The United States, but she still missed her family, who she left behind. How ever, she said that it made her to be a more independent person. She told me that she loved where she's living, and she could have opportunities in America that couldn't have in Vietnam .

A Message From Mother Nature
- The main point of the article is telling the information about climate change and the global warming.
- Vocabulary:
- Intensity : Extreme power, degree, amount or force
- Perception : The ability of seeing, hearing or understanding
- Evidence : The information that provides the reasons to prove something
- Link : The connection beetween people or things
- The difference between climate and weather is a measure of time. Weather is the status of the atmosphere for a short period of time of a place. Climate is the pattern of weather and it exists for a long period.
- Examples :
- Torrential monsoon rains in Pakistan caused the worst flooding in decades, killing more than 1500 people and uprooting millions.
- A record-breaking heat wave along with a record-breaking drought destroyed millions of acres of wheat and sparked wildfires in Russia.
- Flooding in New England, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma. A record-breaking heat wave baked the entire eastern part of the country.
- Experience that i've had with extreme weather : Once my region was flooded after a torrential rain. It was flooding everywhere. Water was constantly increasing because the rain kept falling. Water couldn't discharge down the drain, it was choked up, because there were many rubbish flew into the drain. Water came into many houses and it made the traffic jam.
- The word "perception" mean the knowledge gained by perceiving. It is an ability of understanding about something.
- My perception of global climate change : The climate change is caused by burning fossel fuels and releasing greenhouse gases. The climate is changing everyday. The Earth temperature has been increasing about 1.4 degrees when human started to release enormous amounts of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. There is a link between climate change and the global warming. Therefore, the global warming can be blamed for that.

The story of my imaginary world : BREADLAND
In 1200, an imaginary place was formed. Its name was Breadland, and it was surrounded by a big ocean called Milk. There were only three countries in Breadland. Chapati was the largest country, and it was created into a weird shape. There were many Milk rivers in Breadland. Those rivers were very important because people needed them. Therefore, they built houses and lived beside the rivers.
In 1255, gold was dicovered in Wheat, one of the cities in Chapati, which were 60 degrees of longitude and 60 degrees of latitude. All of the countries in Breadland were all hot and rainy, except Rye. The weather in Rye was different from other countries in Breadland because it was very cold. That was why there were many pine trees in Rye.
In Chapati, there were a lot of mountains which made of chocolate. They existed nearly in all parts of Chapati and they also played a part in the work of the Chapati Factory, which was the biggest factory in the world. Because the factory needed chocolate to make some kinds of bread.
In 1264, Chapati had been eaten by a weird thing. No one knew what it was, including me. People started to move to Bagel. Day by day, There were too many people that evacuated to Bagel. The population increased a lot and the land seemed become smaller. Therefore, people in Bagel started to object the fact that people were moving to their country and stealing thier land. And there began a fight beetween Bagel and Chapati. During that time, the level of the Milk ocean was increasing and it flew into Breadland because most parts of Chapati had been eaten. But no one knew it. By the year of 1310, Breadland was sunk down the bottom of the ocean.

Something i have learned...
Before I presented the project about my family. I asked my mom some questions about my family's history. By asking those questions, i have learned many things that i never knew before. My mom told me about my grandparents and she said that they were from China. That's why my family follows China's culture. And now i knew some special culture of my family. Some of them are very superstitious.
I have also learned a lot of things from my classmates. I have never known that one of my classmate's great-graet-great-grandfather was Nguyen Trai, a famous character in Vietnam's history. Her family posesses a very old book which was from a long time ago, and it was a real family tree. And there is one more thing i found interesting. It was a presentation of another class. It talked about China's culture, a very old culture which didn't exist anymore. It dealt with the women in the past in China. They had to bind their feet securely since they were little. They believed that it showed the sign of wealth. I saw some pictures of them in the Internet. It must be very painful. But i have learned more things from that. It was great to know more about different culture.

One place i have been
I went to Nha Trang this summer. There were many beautiful beaches there. The beaches were full of white sand and people. And the waves were very big and strong. The climate was not very good to me.It was sunny a lot in the morning .Therefore, people liked going to the beach cause it was really hot.
The landscapes were brilliant. There were a lot of high and great moutains.
It was rainy sometime. That made the climate became very cold.People prefered to go out for a walk in the evening because it was warmer and there was a lot of wind.

Something about me
I'm San.I'm 13 years old .This is a first year that i study at ais school,so i'm a new student.I find difficult about studying all of the subjects by English, something that i have never done before. My English is not very good because this is the first time i study at an international school.Everything has been different.Sometime,i don't understand what the teachers are talking about cause they speak too fast. And there have been many new words in the books that i don't understand what they mean. And the last thing that i want to say is about the computer.I don't know anything about computers so i felt scared and worried when the teachers wanted me to go in the Internet and do my homework on that.Everything has become different and difficult to me.I'm scared that i won't get good grade. Some people will think that i'm so stupid ,they will think that i don't speak English well. But i will keep trying.
